Opioid Sparing US Guided Regional Anesthesia Technique for Pain Management after Spine Surgery
Join Theresa Bowling, MD for a discussion of the indications and techniques for ESP blocks with an emphasis on their use for post op pain management after spinal fusion surgery. The Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Protocol for spinal fusion surgery that was developed at Dr. Bowling’s institution, and the subsequent research they have published on decreased opioid consumption, will be presented and discussed.

Theresa Bowling, MD is a recognized leader in regional anesthesia training, acute pain management program development, and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Program implementation. From 2008-2015, she developed and led the Regional Anesthesia Program at The Stamford Hospital, which was awarded a Center of Excellence designation in 2010. In 2012, she found the Stamford School of Regional Anesthesia (SSRA). In 2017, Dr. Bowling joined Integrated Anesthesia Associates, where she is the Director of Regional Anesthesia, and joined the faculty of Quinnipiac University, Frank H. Netter School of Medicine, as an Assistant Professor. She is a board member of the Connecticut Quality Surgical Collaboration where she serves on the ERAS Task Force Committee for Connecticut.
